I was asked to do a product review on Colgate Total Advanced Pro-Shield Mouthwash. I was looking forward to getting the sample product to try out. I have a family of five, and all of us have used mouthwash at one time or another. It would be interesting to see what the family consensus would be about this product.
The other day I went out to the mail, and was happy to see that it had arrived. My son had gone to the mailbox with me and was really excited to see that another product had arrived for us to try out.
My son was so excited that he asked if he could try it right then. I was curious to see what he would think, so we ran upstairs to the bathroom and he tried it out.
I wish I had videotaped him trying out the Colgate Mouthwash. His reaction was really funny. His view was that it was the best mouthwash he had tried. He said that he loved the taste and that it didn’t feel like it stung when he swished it around in his mouth. Final thoughts, he gave it an A+.
I decided to try it out then too. I was as happy as he was. The taste is very pleasant and he was right, there is no stingy feeling when you swish it around in your mouth. The best part for me was that my mouth felt fresh the rest of the day. I was hooked. It’s a great product.
Over the next few days, the rest of the family tried it. Everyone was pleased with the product. The kids wanted me to keep the Colgate Mouthwash in their bathroom so they could use it each day. I have to admit, I pulled it out of their bathroom after two days and put it in my bathroom because I wanted to use it.
If you read the label on the mouthwash, it says:
- Kills 99% of Germs
- Significantly Reduces Plaque
- Helps Prevent Gingivitis
- No Burn of Alcohol
- Freshens Breath
As far as our family feels, the company is right on the money with its claims. We were all very satisfied and now have a new brand of mouthwash that we will be using. Colgate Total Advanced Pro-Shield Mouthwash is a winner in our house.

I have found that I like mouthwash that does not contain alcohol because you do not get that sting when you are swishing.
Good point. I hadn’t thought of the alcohol as the reason for the stinging.
Mouthwash is something not enough people use
You crack me up.
Does it have fluoride? My kid’s dentist insists that they have fluoride rinse, but this looks like it would be great for my husband and I
No, it’s just basic mouthwash, but it is very pleasant.
