Article by Wendy McCance
I have been going through quite a transition lately. Opportunities seem to be falling into my lap at every turn. I have definitely been on one incredible ride. I have thought about this particular topic for quite some time. What I am going to share has is about awareness, bravery and learning to be a visionary.
Let me give you an example of what has transpired in the last week. I was on Facebook and saw a post from a writer friend of mine sharing an article she wrote. I went to the website, read the article, and then checked out the site itself. I loved what I saw. The person who created the website did so with the intention of sharing inspiring stories about women who have conquered difficulties in their life. The message was fabulous! She was demonstrating by sharing these stories that you can do anything no matter what obstacles you face.
Well, the woman fascinated me so I decided to reach out and connect on LinkedIn. Long story short, we connected, she liked what I was sharing on my site too and she asked me if I would be interested in sharing my story on her site. I asked if I could interview her for my site as well. We will be meeting in person and I believe we will have a lot that we can possibly collaborate on. I am thrilled because I think we see things in a very similar way.
After a meeting was set up, I was in my daughter’s bedroom telling her about this woman and how I am looking forward to meeting her. I mentioned that you should grab opportunities when they present themself. If you are always aware of what interests you and you take a chance and explore those interests, amazing things can happen.
Here is where the story gets more interesting. After I was done chatting with my daughter, I had to run up to the store. My daughter decided to go with me. The store is right around the corner from our home. As we were getting out of the car, we heard someone say,”you’ve got to be kidding me.” We turned around and saw a good friend from our old neighborhood closing her car door at the same time as us. She had parked right across from us. We had parked on the side of the building where most people don’t park their cars, yet there she was at the exact same moment.
You have to understand that the person we bumped into had seen us 2 other times in a two-week period at the same market. She had also run into my husband at the gas station. Although she lives in a neighborhood in the next subdivision over, we hadn’t seen her for at least 2 years. All of a sudden, she is popping up everywhere we are at.
I was still thinking about the story I had just told my daughter and so I got curious. I asked our old neighbor what she has been up to lately and what she is doing for work these days. I have no idea why those were the questions I decided to ask, but I just felt that something was happening. Why did we keep meeting up in such a small span of time if we hadn’t bumped into each other for years?
Our old neighbor said that she had been laid off 3 years back and decided to take her marketing background and go into business promoting social media for clients. She was doing the same things I was, but from a different angle. I do a lot of writing and handle social media platforms. She does SEO, website design, advertising, contest etc… Together we would make a complete full-service company. While we were talking, my daughter just stood there with her mouth wide open. She realized that something important was happening.
My old friend and I got together a few days later and found out we work in much the same manner. We decided to merge our companies and make a new more complete company out of our different but complimentary skills.
If I hadn’t asked some questions and just said hi, nothing would have happened. As it was, it took us 2 other times seeing each other plus the time my neighbor saw my husband before we realized there had to be something to why we kept running into each other. Maybe you don’t believe, but I look at these moments as something the universe is working on and I take full advantage of finding out why these coincidences are happening.
After my daughter and I ran into our old neighbor, we were getting ready to go out to a friend’s house for dinner. I said to my daughter that I bet something else would happen that night. It seemed I was on a roll and magical things were happening. I have been interested in music and want to do some songwriting. I announced that I wished that something would happen at my friend’s home tonight that had to do with music. I said if something happened, it would be the most perfect day.
Well, guess what? Something happened. We were at my friend’s home listening to music and got into a discussion about what kind of music we liked. My husband mentioned how much I loved Fleetwood Mac and my friend’s husband said that he could get me tickets to sit in the VIP section at their concert. I almost fell out of my chair. I was so excited. This was my dream come true. The concert is in September and I had been trying to figure out how to get the money for some really good seats. My daughter looked over at me amazed at what had just happened. I had just wished for something magical to happen along the lines of music before we went over. It was just a normal conversation that had led to the offer of the tickets. I had no idea my friend’s husband could pull off such an incredible feat.
A few days later with music still on my mind, I decided to look up music studios in the area. Maybe I could connect with a company that could give me some pointers on songwriting or at least point me in the right direction. I found a studio that impressed me and I looked up their social media sites. What I found was that they really didn’t have much going on. I was shocked became this was a studio that worked with some well-known bands and had won a few impressive awards. I got an idea and decided to reach out to the studio owner. I offered to help his company with his social media in exchange for some help with songwriting. Well, he liked the idea and I will be meeting with him tomorrow.
The same day the appointment with the owner of the studio was scheduled, I was looking at the conversation going on about an article I posted on LinkedIn. One of the people who commented was a writer and award-winning songwriter. I reached out to her asking if I could ask her some questions about the path I should take if I wanted to do some songwriting. She replied by offering to connect on LinkedIn.
There are a few more stories I could share, but the point is, between seeing opportunities and taking the initiative, I have been rolling right along. If you want to have some incredible experiences, don’t take anything for granted. Look for opportunities and keep your mind open so you can begin to see bigger visions play out. Don’t be afraid of reaching out. The worst thing that can happen is someone isn’t interested. I should point out that when I reach out, I always offer something myself. The best moments connecting are when both parties find something useful in the connection. So, take a chance. The best thing that could happen is you get some wonderful connections and some additional opportunities.
What about you? Can you relate to this article? Have you had some incredible opportunities because you kept your eyes open and bravely went after the things that were placed in front of you? Let me know what you have experienced in the comments below.

Way to go, Wendy! It sounds like you’re a blessing magnet 🙂
Thank you for sharing your story here.
Guy
Thanks. I love that, blessing magnet comment. What an awesome way to phrase it!
Wendy, thanks for sharing your experiences with manifesting what you want or need. I am a firm believer in “asking” the Universe for what I want to see. Good luck to you!
Thanks Beverly. Throwing good wishes your way as well.
Wendy,
I love your post and sharing all the serendipitous moments you are experiencing. I have been witness to too many of these divinely orchestrated events to doubt that there is a bigger force at play. I love the way Paulo Coelho in The Alchemist describes these as omens. I live my life guided and assured by these omens. A distinction I have made in more recent years rather than focusing on the Law of attraction and “hoping” things will be drawn to me but rather working with The Law of attention - what I focus on I bring more of” which keeps me at cause and only giving my energy to what I want in my life.
Congratulations on all your success - so delighted for you.
Kym, I love the alchemist!! One of my favorite books. I love that saying, Law of Attention. It’s really a brilliant way to sum it up.
