Have you ever had one of those days where everything feels abnormally quiet? I’ve been sitting in front of my laptop (what else is new), willing myself to finish two blog posts for some clients. I am on a deadline. Tomorrow both articles are due. A very rough draft of each post is done, but my mind is doing the typical wandering.
While in front of my computer “working,” I will do the typical rotation of write a little, check Facebook, research a bit, look at LinkedIn, think about an angle to write about, check out my email. This goes on all day.
Today, I did the typical rotation and it went like this; write a little, check Facebook…nothing posted by anyone. Do a little research, pull up LinkedIn…where is everyone? No messages in my LinkedIn inbox and no comments on any posts sent to groups. Check email…and there is nothing new in my inbox or even in my SPAM box.
I tried to get a hold of a few clients by phone…and got the robotic requests to leave a message. I sent out a few emails, but,…no replies.
WHERE IS EVERYONE???
Is there some grand event going on that I wasn’t invited to? Did I miss the memo that said everyone was taking a day off from electronic equipment?
It is unusually quiet. Usually I relish unusually quiet moments. Today I am feeling a bit uncomfortable with the silence of the world. The loudest thing around me are birds chirping out in the yard. They are strangely loud as though they have taken to announcing their presence over a megaphone. But,… that’s it. Well, except for the occasional car whizzing down our street.
With no distractions of any sort to keep me occupied, I guess I will turn my attention back to my articles. They are both due tomorrow, after all. Huh, after sitting for a moment in silence and reflecting on the fact that even the distraction of writing this post has come to an end, I have decided that maybe I should go downstairs into the kitchen and raid the pantry of some chocolate and maybe even make a cup of tea before getting back to doing the serious work of my day. Maybe by then, I should peek at my email, just one more time. You never know…maybe someone has written to me.
For everyone out there who hasn’t seen or been heard from today, I hope you are having a nice lazy day off. :0

I too have noticed that Quietness…I thuough something was wrong with LinkedIn since when I first checked this AM…I found exactly ZERO EMAILS from them and all of my groups…and only a few have come in since….Even some of the other email business and related boxes have unusually low numbers
Huh, that is so strange. I don’t know whether to be relieved that others notice it too or feel a little paranoid wondering what’s up. Usually by the late afternoon I have at least 5 messages in the LinkedIn inbox, and several comments/endorsements/likes/connection requests. Today, nothing!
It is strangely quiet!!! I think everyone is tired of the rain and taking a nap…which is next on my “to-do” list! 😉
Hah, that’s funny. I already took a nap. When it was raining so hard earlier, I couldn’t resist. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks it’s really quiet today. 🙂
